Former England pacer Stuart Broad recently shared what he considered his favourite moment from the recently-concluded India-England Test series. Broad recalled a specific incident from the third Test at Lord’s that made him smile. It involved Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar and his confident words at the end of Day 4 of the match.
With India chasing a target of 193 runs and already in a spot of bother, Sundar gave an interview that, according to Broad, did not quite age well. Reflecting on it, Broad could not help but chuckle as he described how things unfolded the following day.
At the end of Day 4, India were 58/4. Washington Sundar, despite the pressure situation, had confidently told broadcasters that India would "definitely win this Test". That belief did not translate into performance the next morning as Sundar himself was dismissed for a duck and India lost by 22 runs.

Stuart Broad Reveals His Favourite Moment from India-England Test Series
Sundar came in to bat with India needing a partnership but his stay at the crease was short-lived. He chipped the ball that went straight back to Jofra Archer, who held on to a sharp return catch. Sundar was dismissed for a duck and his earlier statement suddenly seemed premature.
Broad admitted the moment stuck with him as one of the more ironic and amusing instances of the series.
"My favourite moment from the series was when Washington Sundar, in an interview before batting, said that 'India would definitely win this Test'," said Stuart Broad as quoted on Sky Sports.
"Washington Sundar chipped one back to Jofra Archer, beautiful catch, and he went back for zero. It did make me smile," he added.

India Fight Back to Level the Series After Lord’s Loss
Despite the setback at Lord’s, India bounced back strongly in the final two Tests to level the five-match series 2-2. The third Test had ended in heartbreak for the visitors. However, they drew the fourth Test and then won the final Test of the series by six runs.
England started Day 5 at The Oval needing just 35 runs with four wickets in hand. But under pressure, they collapsed. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton in his first two overs of the day.
Prasidh Krishna sent Josh Tongue packing. Gus Atkinson tried to take England home along with injured Chris Woakes but he could not finish the task as Siraj cleaned him up to give India a historic six-run win.
